The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) has conducted a three-day training session to enhance the investigative capabilities of Ukrainian officials in dealing with cryptocurrency-related crimes. The training focused on teaching participants how to trace illicit activities on blockchain networks, covering topics such as blockchain technology, crypto-assets, and investigating blockchain transactions. Participants had the opportunity to practice identifying transaction patterns and suspicious activities using Bitcoin and Ethereum. The initiative is part of a wider OSCE project funded by several countries that aims to mitigate risks associated with virtual assets, including money laundering and financial crimes. The training comes as criminal activity on blockchain networks is increasing, with Ukraine seeing a significant rise in large institutional decentralized finance transactions, according to blockchain forensics firm Chainalysis.
