A recent analysis of over 1,000 Tiktok videos on cryptocurrency has found that 68% of the content is misleading. The analysis revealed that many influencers prioritize personal gain over the financial well-being of their audience. Additionally, 61% of the misleading videos do not include disclaimers to help users assess risks, and 58% promote specific crypto assets without providing sufficient context about the associated risks. Furthermore, 35% of the misleading videos promise unrealistic returns on investment and often target novices or inexperienced users. The analysis also found that 96% of videos featuring memecoins are misleading, and 82% of the videos promoted dead memecoins. Only 0.3% of Tiktok influencers have relevant qualifications, and 70% promote their own paid services. The report concludes by emphasizing the importance of responsible content creation and consumption to protect against financial losses in the evolving crypto market.
