Ilya Lichtenstein, the hacker behind the 2016 theft of 120,000 bitcoin from Bitfinex, has released a video from prison reiterating his guilt and denying involvement from his father or any spy agency. Lichtenstein apologized to Bitfinex for the stress he caused and expressed his remorse for his actions. He also provided an update on restitution, stating that he has been working to return all stolen assets as required by his plea agreement. A restitution hearing is scheduled for February. Lichtenstein's wife, Heather "Razzlekhan" Morgan, who was involved in money laundering the stolen funds, has also pled guilty. She expressed her desire to debunk myths surrounding their case and plans to tell the real story once her criminal case is over. Lichtenstein plans to pursue a career fighting cybercrime after serving his sentence. According to his lawyer, nearly all of the stolen assets have been recovered with Lichtenstein's help, representing around 96% of the stolen bitcoin. The U.S. Department of Justice has not responded to inquiries about the percentage of recovered funds.
