Block, a Bitcoin company co-founded by Jack Dorsey, has introduced a new feature to address the issue of inheritance in the crypto space. Unlike fiat systems where assets can be transferred to next of kin, bitcoin relies on private keys for access to funds. If the owner of a private key dies and access is lost, the funds are at risk of being lost forever. Block's solution links a hardware wallet to another private key, allowing for the transfer of funds six months after the user's death. This addresses a multibillion-dollar problem and eliminates the need for extensive documentation required by other inheritance schemes. In addition to hardware wallets, Block is also focused on producing mining chips and bitcoin mining infrastructure.
