Safe{Wallet} has released a statement on Bybit's targeted hack, revealing that the attack was achieved through a compromised developer machine. The forensic audit did not find any shortcomings in Safe's smart contracts or source code, and the team has reinstated Safe on the Ethereum mainnet with additional security measures. However, the report has received heavy criticism from former Binance CEO CZ, who believes it lacks detail and leaves many questions unanswered. Bybit has also launched its own investigation and contracted blockchain security firms Sygnia and Verichains. Preliminary conclusions from Verichains suggest that a malicious code from Safe's infrastructure caused the incident. The investigation into the $1.5 billion hack is ongoing, with suspicion falling on the Lazarus Group.
