Bitcoin Stamps offer a new way of storing images on the Bitcoin blockchain by splitting them into numerous Unspent Transaction Outputs (UTXOs). The project was created by the Twitter user Mike in Space, and a summary of the project is hosted on Github. As of now, more than 8,000 stamps have been minted, and the Stampchain.io boasts a directory of Bitcoin Stamps. These can also be found on the Counterparty assets portal kaleidoscopexcp.com. In order to mint a stamp, users have to encode an image in base64 text and leverage the Counterparty protocol. Similar to Ordinals, these stamps present some criticism and require an expensive process due to their permanence. Despite these facts, anyone can mint these stamps without permission.
