Tobias Andersen, a core developer on the blockchain, is again at the center of controversy surrounding Terra Classic. After disagreements over pay, influencers in the community are questioning the salary increments proposed by the Joint Layer 1 Task Force (JL1TF) for Q2. Andersen has argued that the proposal is unclear and argued that the proposed salary is fair with reference to his contributions as the only full-time developer.

Previously, Andersen had come under fire for his views that Allnodes controlling a significant portion of the network’s voting power was not an issue, forcing Notional Labs’ Jacob Gadikian out of the JL1TF. Some members have also questioned Gadiakian’s motives.

In response to requests for clarity on the budget, Andersen has allegedly rebuffed and blocked requests from community influencers. The developer has explained his high salary by pointing to his GitHub logs and YouTube videos, and has threatened legal action against anyone who has maligned his character.

The disagreement over the proposal has been met with serious consideration from TerracVita. In a tweet, TerracVita suggested that the team may be “allowing the L1 team time to refine their proposal” instead of immediately voting “no” and spending from the community pool.

The latest drama is interesting, especially as the JL1TF has already met all goals set in the budget for the previous quarter. While details remain scarce, the community is hoping that the team is able to resolve the issues concerning the proposal and produce an outcome agreeable to everyone.
