On-chain agents like AIXBT have quickly gained popularity for their ability to respond quickly and provide data-backed opinions. These agents are becoming a new asset class in the crypto space, similar to the rise of NFTs in 2021. On-chain agents and NFTs share similarities in curating communities and organizing attention, but agents differentiate themselves through utility. However, picking agents to invest in is still speculative. The on-chain agent market is still in its early stages, with most projects in development. Despite the uncertainty, the potential for on-chain agents to create value and unique user experiences is recognized. The comparison is made to the DeFi summer and the realization that centralized fintech companies may not act in the best interests of their customers. Similarly, concerns arise regarding big AI companies like ChatGPT potentially accessing personal data without accountability. The uncertainty surrounding the future value and usefulness of on-chain agents leads to the suggestion of investing in an index of agents. Finally, while recognizing the trillion-dollar potential of on-chain agents, it is noted that currently they are still a speculative asset.
