Tether, the stablecoin company, has announced a new initiative that aims to bring green energy and battery solutions to Africa. The company plans to install solar-powered kiosks across the continent to recharge batteries and offer monthly subscriptions in bitcoin, USDT, or local currency. The initiative not only addresses the power crisis in Africa but also aims to educate communities about cryptocurrencies and bitcoin. Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino has declared himself a bitcoin maximalist and believes that USDT will eventually become obsolete in a bitcoin-dominated future. The company is already operating hundreds of kiosks in stealth mode and is considering a large-scale rollout of 10,000 or even 100,000 locations. This initiative is part of Tether's broader expansion into other industries in emerging countries, including green energy, AI, bitcoin mining, biotechnology, and agriculture.
