House Majority Whip Tom Emmer has announced the creation of the first-ever congressional crypto caucus, aimed at allowing pro-industry lawmakers to vote as a united bloc on relevant legislation. The bipartisan caucus is led by Emmer, a staunch crypto advocate, and Rep. Ritchie Torres, a vocal Democratic ally. This move comes shortly after President Donald Trump directed the establishment of a "crypto strategic reserve" consisting of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Cardano, and XRP. The caucus intends to support and defend open, permissionless, and private innovation in the crypto industry. This development brings the crypto sector closer to being recognized as a permanent special interest group in Washington.
