Craig Wright, who claims to be the inventor of Bitcoin, has been ordered by a UK judge to pay £225,000 ($290,000) of the Crypto Open Patent Alliance's (COPA) legal costs. The judge accused Wright of improperly using AI to file his appeal and of risking misleading the court. Wright has been ordered to pay £100,000 to cover COPA's appeal costs and £125,000 for the legal costs of other developers. This ruling serves as a warning about the risks of using AI tools to create court documents. It is reportedly the first time someone in the UK civil courts has had to pay costs over their use of AI.
