The Prime Minister of Bhutan has revealed how the country's Bitcoin reserve has benefited its people. Bhutan has been mining Bitcoin since 2019 using its abundant water resources and currently holds 13,029 BTC, making it the fifth largest holder of the asset among nation-states. The Prime Minister stated that Bitcoin has been used to provide free healthcare, finance public servants' salaries, and fill a revenue generation gap. Bhutan also sees potential in the broader digital asset ecosystem and has designated Bitcoin, Ethereum, and BNB as strategic reserve assets in its special administrative region.
