Alphractal, a cryptocurrency analytics firm, has observed a significant shift in Bitcoin address activity. While there has been a rapid increase in the number of addresses holding more than 100 BTC, there has been a notable decrease in addresses holding more than 10,000 BTC. Addresses with over 100 BTC are often associated with institutional users, miners, and high-net-worth individuals, while those with over 10,000 BTC are typically controlled by exchanges, hedge funds, whales, and long-term holders. This redistribution of assets suggests growing institutional interest and increased activity from "sharks" as Bitcoin gains momentum. The shift in address distribution indicates a more decentralized distribution of Bitcoin assets, with institutions and mid-market investors becoming more active. However, the decline in holdings of exchanges and long-term investors could have various consequences.
