Singapore Management University (SMU) has received a $1 million gift from the Aptos Foundation to support its goal to become a leader in blockchain technology. The funding will be used for talent development, research, and instructional initiatives, including the establishment of SMU's first-ever blockchain professorship. The alliance also includes the Aptos Move-BIG Startup Award, an annual $50,000 award to encourage creativity in SMU's startup scene, and the Aptos Move Student Activities Fund, which will support hands-on events for students. This collaboration highlights the growing trend of academia incorporating blockchain technology and aims to keep Singapore at the forefront of innovation and education in the global blockchain ecosystem.
