Tezos has deployed its 17th protocol upgrade, called the Quebec upgrade, which brings several improvements to the blockchain. The upgrade includes faster transaction speeds, improved staking mechanics, and token issuance enhancements. Key changes include a reduction in block times from 10 seconds to 8 seconds, allowing transactions to reach finality in just 16 seconds. This makes Tezos suitable for speed-sensitive applications like payments and gaming. The upgrade also makes staking more accessible and increases the limit for external stakes that validators can accept. Additionally, the adaptive issuance mechanism has been improved to better balance staking rewards and inflation control.
