Spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have had a remarkable first year, far exceeding expectations. BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) was the most successful U.S. ETF launch ever, accumulating over $52.3 billion in assets. Other spot bitcoin ETFs, such as the Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC) and the ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF (ARKB), also saw significant success. While initial inflows came mainly from nonprofessional investors, experts expect increased adoption from advisors and institutions in the future. Some predict that 2025 will be the "Year of Crypto ETFs," with the approval of over 50 more crypto ETFs, including options-based and equities-based products.
