The crypto platform Celestia has experienced a significant increase in the size of BLOBs (Binary Large Objects) and daily transactions over the past two weeks. The average BLOB size has grown nearly tenfold from 1.18 GB to 11.4 GB, while daily transactions have increased by over 60% from around 44,000 to 71,000. This surge is likely attributed to the issuance of NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) and the growing number of projects using Celestia as their data availability layer. The majority of the BLOBs are associated with Eclipse, an Ethereum Layer 2 blockchain utilizing the Solana virtual machine and Celestia.
