Jeju Island, a region in South Korea, plans to issue NFT-powered visitor cards in 2025 to attract younger tourists. These digital cards, linked to NFTs, will provide discounts and travel subsidies to visitors. Jeju Island has faced challenges leveraging crypto growth due to strict regulations in South Korea, but officials are now pushing for change. The initiative aims to appeal to Millennials and Gen Z, with the NFT cards set to be issued later this year and a pilot program for domestic visitors starting in 2025. Jeju Island also plans to integrate its NFT project with a local stablecoin called Tamna Jeon. The island's decision to use NFTs for tourism and economic development is in contrast to South Korea's mixed regulatory stance on NFTs.
