Russian authorities are in the process of liquidating over 1,032 Bitcoin, worth around one billion rubles, that were seized from Marat Tambiev, a former investigator of the Russian Investigative Committee. Tambiev was convicted in a high-profile crypto bribery case and found guilty of accepting Bitcoin as a bribe to protect the interests of a hacking group he was investigating. The Bitcoin stash was discovered on Tambiev's computer and devices during a search of his apartment in Moscow. Tambiev was sentenced to 16 years in prison and fined 500 million rubles for his actions. Authorities are also seeking to seize more of Tambiev's property, including additional Bitcoin, which they believe he obtained illegally.
