The Chinese Ministry of Public Security has expressed concerns about criminals using blockchain, cryptocurrency, and artificial intelligence (AI) to carry out fraud. The ministry recently announced the arrest of over 53,000 Chinese individuals involved in telecommunications fraud in northern Myanmar, leading to the dismantling of the "Four Major Families" criminal organization. However, the ministry warned that the overall crime situation remains critical as fraud groups continue to evolve and incorporate advanced technologies into their operations. These criminal networks personalize their scams and target individuals based on factors such as age, occupation, and education. While the large-scale electronic fraud hubs near the China-Myanmar border have been shut down, many fraud networks still operate abroad disguised as "technology parks" or "development zones." Despite efforts to combat fraud, these overseas hubs continue to serve as centers for telecommunications fraud.
