Lawyers representing Nishad Singh, former FTX Director of Engineering, have requested that a federal judge refrain from sentencing him to prison. Singh had pleaded guilty to six criminal charges, including fraud and conspiracy, for his involvement in the collapse of FTX. The lawyers argue that Singh's role in the conspiracy was limited and that he did not join until shortly before FTX's collapse. They emphasize his cooperation with authorities, which they claim was crucial in bringing FTX's founder, Sam Bankman-Fried, and former division executive Ryan Salame to justice. Singh testified against Bankman-Fried in his trial in October 2023. The sentencing for Singh is scheduled for October 30.
