Billy Markus, also known as Shibetoshi Nakamoto, the co-creator of Dogecoin, has named the person he believes is most likely to be the mysterious Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin. Markus revealed on Twitter that it is not Peter Todd, as suggested in an HBO documentary. Instead, he believes it could be Hal Finney, a prominent software engineer who received the first Bitcoin transaction from Nakamoto's wallet. Markus also questioned whether the reveal of Satoshi's identity in the documentary would cause a crash in Bitcoin's value. Peter Todd, who was interviewed for the documentary, has repeatedly denied being Satoshi and criticized the film's director for endangering his life. The documentary has faced criticism for lacking substantial evidence. Before its release, the most popular prediction for Satoshi's identity was Len Sassaman, a cryptographer who died in 2011.
