Ethereum creator Vitalik Buterin is being considered as a potential candidate for the Nobel Prize in Economics, according to two notable economists. Tyler Cowen and Alex Tabarro, economics professors and co-authors of the blog Marginal Revolution, discussed potential winners on their podcast. They highlighted Buterin's contributions to cryptocurrency, including building the Ethereum platform and currency and his role in the transition from proof-of-work to proof-of-stake consensus mechanism. They also praised Buterin's writings on monetary economics. While they also mentioned Satoshi Nakamoto, the anonymous creator of Bitcoin, they questioned whether the award could be given to someone who is anonymous.
