Decentraland, a popular Ethereum metaverse game, has announced the launch plans for its desktop client. The new client aims to improve the game's graphics, performance, and mechanics, and will be available as a public beta on October 22. The upgrade includes enhanced visuals, more dynamic environments, and improved avatar interactions with objects. Additionally, the desktop client allows players to freely explore the entire map, increasing immersion and creating a cohesive metaverse experience. The performance improvements include faster load times, increased frame rates, and the ability to accommodate more players in the same area without crashing. Decentraland's annual music festival and its upcoming pride event will showcase the new client's capabilities to host large numbers of players. The update reflects a shift in the game's vision, focusing more on the social aspect of the metaverse. Decentraland plans to encourage social interactions through a new quest and badge achievement system. While the desktop client improves performance, it does not exclude builders responsible for user-generated content, as they can now create more complex and higher-resolution worlds. Decentraland is also considering entering the world of virtual reality (VR) to further enhance the immersive experience.
