Caroline Ellison, former co-CEO of Alameda Research, has been sentenced to two years in prison for her involvement in the collapse of the crypto exchange FTX. Despite her lenient sentence, which was largely due to her cooperation with the investigation, the judge emphasized that remorse and cooperation do not excuse the severity of the case. Ellison pleaded guilty to seven counts of fraud and conspiracy, becoming the third individual associated with FTX to be jailed. Sam Bankman-Fried, Ryan Salame, and Ellison collectively are serving a total of 34.5 years, with Gary Wang and Nishad Singh awaiting sentencing. Wang and Singh have cooperated with prosecutors and hope to avoid jail time. Numerous other individuals, including Bankman-Fried's parents and lawyers implicated in the case, have not been indicted.
