Tucker Carlson, a renowned controversial news anchor on Fox News, ended his long-term relations with the network yesterday. Carlson, whose viewership numbers at the 8 p.m. time slot were the highest in the network, joined the network in 2009 as a contributor and co-hosted Fox and Friend Weekend from 2012 to 2016. During his tenure, he made numerous wild theories on bitcoin and cryptocurrency. His most significant theory was the one he proposed on Jan 18, 2023 linking airline delays in the US and Canada with a bitcoin price rise saying the government might have made large BTC purchases to pay the ransom. His viewers vouched for the theory, while crypto experts argued that the price rise was a result of $5 billion in assets from FTX recovering.

His departure sent waves of people rejoicing, especially the Fox News critics. Former Rep Liz Cheney, twitted that after the lies and defamations of the viewership, it was time for the anchor to leave. The defamation lawsuit against Fox News made him liable to testify at trial, but the parties settled for $787.5 million last week. Currently, the network is faced with a market cap drop of $950 million with Carlson’s exit. Nevertheless, fans of the anchor are hopeful that they will soon get to hear the anchor on another network.
