The animated web series ‘Space Junk’ is set in the stars and follows a unit of workers tasked with cleaning up debris from spacecraft. Led by award-winning actor of ‘Napoleon Dynamite’ Jon Heder, ‘Space Junk’ combines Web3 techniques, humor, and science fiction to create an exciting viewing experience. The concept of the series is said to come from the reading about a real space hazard.

‘Space Junk’ features voice acting by Jon Heder himself, as well as Tony Cavalero from ‘The Righteous Gemstones’ and ‘School of Rock’. Each episode is estimated to be between 10-14 minutes and all episodes combined to form a season of 8 episodes across two months.

The series reaches for a more light-hearted tone than its predecessor, ‘The Gimmicks’ and emphasizes blue-collar workers fixing issues in space rather than the sexier aspects. Moreover, ‘Space Junk is bringing artificial intelligence into the spotlight. An AI called Wellbecca is voiced by an AI chatbot and enhances the show’s reality while also providing a way for viewers to co-create their own stories.
