Steve Aoki and Justin “3LAU” Blau have announced their first track as the CryptoPunks-inspired duo, Punx, titled “Concentrate”. The track draws inspiration from the CryptoPunks collection - one of the earliest popular Non-Fungible Token (NFT) collections. A mix of fast-paced electronic music combined with a hint of industrial edge, the track allows the duo to pay homage to the spirit of the CryptoPunks.

Aoki and Blau don’t just want to be respected for their music, but also for their commitment to decentralization and the future of digital commerce. As such, the two have announced that a portion of the royalties from “Concentrate” will be distributed to 99 NFT holders. These 99 individuals will be chosen from Blau's NFT holders, Aoki's A0k1verse Passport NFT holders, and CryptoPunks NFT holders. By doing this, the duo aims to reward the early supporters of NFTs and democratize ownership of the song.

The track will be released on Web3 music rights platform Royal- a platform founded by Blau, which gives music fans the ability to support their favorite artists through NFTs. These NFTs grant fans a percentage of the song’s royalties. After its release, the 99 NFTs will be available for trading on Royal.

The pairing of Aoki and Blau was not random. Blau mentioned that both shared an affinity for NFTs and Web3 technology. As both were passionate about the potential of NFTs, Blau claimed that Aoki was the first DJ to listen and understand it, as he was an avid collector.

The single “Concentrate” mark the beginning of an exciting journey for the duo. With their idea to give back to NFT holders, they hope to not only be respected for their music, but also their efforts to support innovation and decentralization.
