Alchemy, the builder of Web3 infrastructure and valued at $10 billion, launched its venture capital arm, Alchemy Ventures, at the end of 2021. Alchemy Ventures is a venture arm that operates off the main company’s balance sheet and aims to achieve three primary goals: attracting early-stage founders to the Alchemy ecosystem, gathering strategic intel for the Alchemy roadmap and growing the main team through acquihires or full acquisitions. This venture arm is mainly focused on end-user applications, infrastructure or developer tools to drive end-user adoption, investing an average of $150,000 to $250,000 per company, mostly in pre-seed or seed stages. The arm also offers operational support with early product feedback, customer introductions and recruiting, and will soon launch Alchemy Connect, a platform and social network. To date, Alchemy Ventures has 84 investments across two portfolio tracks, with 46 companies in the accelerator track. The accelerator track involves infrastructure credits for Amazon Web Services and Alchemy in exchange for equity. Generally, the venture arm seeks “Web3 missionaries, not mercenaries.”
