Rarimo secures $2.5m for ZK identity protocol with backing from Vitalik Buterin

Rarimo, a zero-knowledge identity protocol, has raised $2.5 million in funding with support from Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin. The funding will be used to accelerate the development of Rarimo's decentralized digital identity model. The protocol focuses on zk-wrapping proof-of-personhood methods, allowing users to verify their identity without disclosing personal details. Rarimo plans to migrate to the Ethereum network as a roll-up in early 2025 and will continue to develop its self-custody wallet, RariMe. The company aims to address interoperability and liquidity challenges in blockchain-based identity systems. Rarilabs, the service provider for Rarimo, previously raised $10 million in a Series A round in 2022, valuing the firm at $100 million.
