BlueSky Sees Surge in New Users and Child Pornography
BlueSky, the decentralized social media platform launched by former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, has seen a surge in users following the US Presidential election and the banning of Twitter in Brazil. However, along with the influx of new users, the platform has also experienced a rise in harmful content, including child sexual abuse material. BlueSky has reported a significant increase in reports of such content and has made short-term moderation choices to prioritize recall over precision. The platform has partnered with internet watchdog group Thorn and deployed AI-powered Safer moderation technology to detect and combat child-oriented sexual content. BlueSky is also expanding its moderation team to improve the accuracy and timeliness of its moderation actions.
