Immutable AI Labs social media compromised, spreads phishing links

Immutable AI Labs, a blockchain project, had its social media profile compromised and used to share a fake link for its IMMU token airdrop. The malicious link was still active hours after it was posted and used a spoof website to trick users. Web3 Antivirus flagged the risk when trying to connect a wallet. Social media attacks have resulted in the loss of millions of dollars in the past few months. Stolen social media accounts can be difficult to recover, especially if the hacker has set up a passkey. As tokens gain value, phishing links are becoming more common, and users are advised to bookmark legitimate links and avoid relying on Google searches. Another scam involved a fake ad for Aerodrome, a popular DEX on the Base blockchain. Exploits targeting Solana wallets can be particularly risky since the signed permission cannot be revoked. Scam links often drain small-scale wallets but can also target larger sums.
