A US federal judge has denied Tornado Cash developer Roman Storm's attempt to dismiss money laundering and sanctions evasion charges. The judge ruled that creating and deploying the Tornado Cash protocol is not protected speech under the First Amendment. Tornado Cash is a crypto mixer protocol on Ethereum that has been accused of being used by cybercriminals for money laundering. The trial is set to begin on December 2 in New York. Supporters of Tornado Cash, including Vitalik Buterin and Edward Snowden, have advocated for its use and defended its legality.
