Former South Korean lawmaker Kim Nam-guk, involved in the "Coin Gate" scandal, has been declared "not guilty" of charges related to misreporting his assets and obstructing officials. Kim was accused of hiding the large profit he made from cryptocurrency ahead of crypto law changes by selling his holdings and transferring the funds into a bank account. Both the judge and the Ethics Committee ruled that there was no evidence of a crime and that, at the time, crypto assets were not subject to declarations. While some details provided by Kim were deemed inaccurate, they did not constitute obstruction of official duties. Prosecutors had sought a six-month jail term for Kim.
