The KvarnPortugal Fund is a new investment vehicle that allows investors to gain exposure to the cryptocurrency sector while also providing a potential pathway to Portuguese residency or citizenship. It is a partnership between Fundbox, a Portuguese fund management company, and Kvarn X, a European cryptocurrency investment platform. The fund has a subscription period until February 2027 and charges a 0.05% management fee, a one-time 2.5% subscription fee, and a €1,250 ($1289) know-your-customer (KYC) fee. It allocates 80% of its portfolio to bitcoin and 20% to the CoinDesk 20 Index, providing exposure to a range of large-cap cryptocurrencies. To use the fund for Portuguese residency, investors need to commit a minimum of €500,000 and spend at least 35 days in the country over five years, with the investment made through a Portuguese bank account.
