Pump.fun co-founder Alon Cohen has denied reports that the Solana-based memecoin launchpad is planning to issue its own token. Crypto journalist Colin Wu had previously claimed that Pump.fun was working on a token and intended to distribute it through a Dutch auction with the help of centralized exchanges. However, Cohen dismissed these claims and stated that the company is solely focused on improving its platform and rewarding users. Despite Cohen's denial, Wu maintained that his team had obtained official documents and that multiple exchange officials confirmed Pump.fun's token launch plans. The potential token launch comes as Pump.fun faces legal scrutiny, including a class-action lawsuit alleging the sale of unregistered securities and a cease-and-desist letter regarding alleged misuse of intellectual property. Cohen has not directly addressed these legal disputes but has stated that Pump.fun operates within legal boundaries.
