The IOTA Foundation has developed a revolutionary proposal called the IOTA Rebased protocol, aiming to rebuild its blockchain framework. The proposal includes advanced features such as Move Virtual Machine (MoveVM), Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) support, and a revised tokenomics model. It seeks to transition from the current UTXO model to an object-based architecture powered by MoveVM, improving programmability and enabling resource-oriented programming. The proposal also aims to bring higher throughput and restructure the consensus model for improved latency and resilience. Additionally, it introduces staking rewards and transaction fees, deviating from IOTA's feeless structure. The proposal is currently undergoing testing and refinement before a potential mainnet launch in early 2025.
