Cardano has successfully launched its first zero-knowledge (ZK) smart contract on its mainnet using Halo 2's zkSNARK technology. The transaction, executed by Input Output, demonstrates Cardano's focus on innovation and scalability in the blockchain space. This marks the beginning of ZK applications on the Cardano network, and the Electric Coin Company's Halo 2 proof system allows for running and verifying cryptographic proofs without relying on a trusted setup. The transaction involved freezing and unfreezing funds, with a small cost of 2.03 ADA. Halo 2's features, such as recursive proofs, contribute to increasing the scalability and connectivity of the blockchain.
