The US internet service provider, Comcast, has suffered another data breach, exposing the personal information of nearly 238,000 customers. The breach occurred at a third-party service provider, Financial Business and Consumer Solutions (FBCS), which Comcast used for collections services. The unauthorized party gained access to FBCS's computer network and downloaded data, including names, addresses, social security numbers, and birthdates of Comcast customers, during a ransomware attack. FBCS confirmed the breach in February and stated that over four million people were affected. This is the second major breach for Comcast customers in less than a year, with a previous breach in December 2023 exposing personal data of 35 million customers due to a vulnerability in software from Citrix.
