Bitcoin pioneer Roger Ver, also known as "Bitcoin Jesus," has been held in Spain for eight months awaiting an extradition decision by the US government, which has accused him of tax fraud. Ver argues that he is being unjustly targeted for his political views and believes he complied with IRS demands after renouncing his US citizenship. Influential figures in the crypto community, including Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson and biologist Bret Weinstein, have added their voices to an open letter calling for Ver's release. Ver's arrest came shortly after the release of his book, "Hijacking Bitcoin," which criticizes the co-opting and sabotage of BTC, and promotes Bitcoin Cash. The open letter has received over 2,700 signatures.
