Elon Musk expressed concerns about bureaucratic hurdles preventing the colonization of Mars, which his company SpaceX has been working on. Musk announced the approximate timing for the first uncrewed and crewed space flights to Mars. However, SpaceX is currently prohibited from flying its Starship until November due to a part landing in the Gulf of Mexico, potentially harming protected marine species. Erik Voorhees playfully asked if SpaceX has started its Mars Wildlife Impact Study. Musk previously mentioned plans to send spaceships to Mars in two years, with the goal of establishing a self-sustained city.
