A report by WisdomTree suggests that the institutionalization of crypto markets is causing bitcoin to no longer be considered a niche investment. Portfolios that include bitcoin are consistently outperforming those that do not. Asset managers are advised to integrate digital assets into multi-asset portfolios or risk falling behind. The launch of spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in the US has helped to mainstream crypto, and this trend is expected to continue in 2025. Altcoin exchange-traded products (ETPs) will also become more diverse. While the Ethereum blockchain is crucial for decentralized finance (DeFi), non-fungible tokens (NFTs), and Web3, scalability remains an issue. Stablecoins are becoming essential to the global financial system, and networks like Solana are suitable for stablecoin payments and remittances. Tokenization, the process of putting real-world assets on the blockchain, is predicted to expand and transform industries.
