Solana Mobile recently launched their first Android device, the Saga, which aims to enable a secure and convenient Web3 experience to mobile users. It is available to purchase in the US, EU, UK, Canada, Switzerland, Australia and New Zealand and will begin shipping soon after its launch on May 8.

The Saga sets itself apart from existing phones by introducing two features designed to streamline and safeguard Web3 users' experiences. Firstly, a separate Solana app store alongside native Android apps provides access to apps such as Uniswap, Audius, Dialect, Jupiter Aggregator, Ledger, Magic Eden, Mango Markets, Marinade, and Squads. Secondly, a secure seed vault integrates with all dapps available on the Solana app store and allows users to safely store and access their Web3 wallets. This seed vault is encrypted and also utilizes a Qualcomm secure execution environment and a secure element processor, such that the phone itself does not have the capability gain access to the wallet's private keys.

Steven Laver, the lead software engineer at Solana Mobile, emphasizes the importance of ensuring users self-custody of their assets and comfort with bringing those assets with them wherever they go, without having to make use of a traditional pure software-based self-custody system. As a result, the Saga is designed to facilitate this, by integrating web3 more seamlessly into the traditional mobile phone experience.

Early buyers will be able to claim a Saga NFT token upon setting up the device, as well as receive a welcome pack which includes various cryptocurrencies and stickers. With a variety of features to make engaging with Web3 easier and more secure, the Solana Saga is set to become an attractive choice for users looking for a hassle-free way to access Web3 applications.
