It seems that Coinbase is ready to embrace the Bitcoin Lightning Network as the crypto exchange giant addresses the rumors on Twitter. After months of near-silence on the matter, Coinbase Co-founder and CEO Brian Armstrong offered an answer via Twitter. He suggested that Coinbase is expecting to integrate the Bitcoin Lightning Network upgrade soon. The Lightning Network is designed to make Bitcoin payments faster and cheaper by moving the transaction off the main blockchain. This protocol was built particularly to make Bitcoin usage easier as a digital currency, where two users can open a smart contract channel for off-blockchain payments. This way, Bitcoin transactions can be instant and cost-effective between them. The Bitcoin Lightning Network integration has been gaining ground among numerous cryptocurrency exchanges. Despite that, some of the major cryptocurrency exchanges have not declared their interest to introduce the upgrade. After such a lengthy period of quiet, Coinbase has now revealed plans to implement the Lightning Network. It is promising to hear that the top cryptocurrency exchange is finally taking the next decisive step to join the Lightning Network bandwagon.
