The crypto community is celebrating Donald Trump's victory in the U.S. presidential election, as the current head of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Gary Gensler, has a negative stance on the crypto market. Trump had promised to fire Gensler if he won the election. However, firing Gensler would not be easy, and the process could take more than a year. The replacement for Gensler could have a significant impact on the future of cryptocurrency regulation. Potential candidates to replace him include Hester Peirce, known as the "Crypto Mum," who supports the crypto industry, and Dan Gallagher, Robinhood's chief legal officer, who has experience at the SEC. Chris Giancarlo, a lawyer and former head of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, and Robert Stebbins, who served as general counsel at the SEC, are also being considered. Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong has called for the next SEC chairman to stop the persecution of the crypto industry and promote clearer regulations.
