Blockchain investigator ZachXBT unintentionally created a $15 million meme coin on the Base network after an NFT project documenting his high-profile investigation automatically transformed into a tradable ERC-20 token. Using the Zora protocol to create open-edition NFTs, ZachXBT was unaware that the platform's user interface would automatically generate an ERC-20 token. This allowed his NFTs to be traded on decentralized exchanges, turning his investigative work into a meme coin. While the incident highlights the potential of blockchain-based assets, it also raises concerns about unclear user interfaces and unintended financial instruments.
