Giw Zanganeh, VP of Energy and Mining at Tether, has announced a new initiative to amend Switzerland's constitution and add Bitcoin to the balance sheet of the Swiss National Bank (SNB). The initiative aims to collect 100,000 manuscript signatures from Swiss citizens by June 30 and will be reviewed by the Swiss Federal Assembly if successful. Advocates want to include Bitcoin in the country's federal constitution, specifically in Article 99, which currently states that a part of the reserves should be held in gold. This initiative follows similar efforts in Germany and suggests that other countries may consider adding Bitcoin to their reserves. Switzerland is known for being crypto-friendly, with the canton of Zug experimenting with Bitcoin payments as early as 2016.
