Crypto mining in the Chechen Republic will be illegal starting from January 2025, and those found mining crypto will be equated with terrorists, according to State Duma lawmaker Adam Delimkhanov. Delimkhanov stated that crypto mining could disrupt electricity stability in certain regions, leading to severe consequences for citizens. This follows a ban on Bitcoin mining in several regions in Russia due to energy shortages, and it is part of a larger crypto circulation bill signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin that gives lawmakers the power to ban crypto mining in specific regions.
