After reaching an all-time high of around $106,490, Bitcoin's price has retraced to $95,256. However, short sellers have doubled down on their bets, potentially leading to short squeezes. Two cryptocurrencies, Aave (AAVE) and Hyperliquid (HYPE), have been identified as potential short-squeeze candidates. Although AAVE has more long positions than short, HYPE has a greater total volume of shorts. While there is no guarantee of a short squeeze, if the bearish sentiment continues, a lot of capital could be at risk. Both AAVE and HYPE are expected to see improvements in 2025, which could act as catalysts for their prices.
