The Avalanche Network has released the Etna upgrade, which includes multiple proposed upgrades such as reinventing subnets, adding dynamic fees to the P-Chain, implementing a warp signature interface standard, reducing the C-Chain minimum base fee, activating Cancun EIPs, and using the current block P-Chain height for state verification. The pre-released code version was successfully activated on the Fuji Test Network. The upgrade requires nodes to upgrade to AvalancheGo v1.12.0 and reduces transaction fees on the C-Chain and P-Chain by implementing a dynamic fee mechanism. The upgrade also introduces the ability to create sovereign Avalanche Layer 1 blockchains with lightweight validation and custom validator management logic through smart contracts. This significantly reduces the upfront costs of creating and operating a blockchain. Additionally, the upgrade includes a VM-agnostic standard for requesting signatures for Avalanche Interchain Messages to simplify signature aggregator implementations.
